Bessemer, MI – December 5, 2025 — The Gogebic Range Health Foundation (GRHF) is proud to support Michigan’s Western Gateway Trail Authority (MWGTA) in its successful effort to raise funds toward the purchase of a new groomer for the Iron Belle Trail.

Through a collaborative spring fundraising initiative, MWGTA sold 300 raffle tickets at $100 each, offering eight cash prizes totaling $10,000. After expenses, the raffle generated $19,880 in proceeds dedicated to the groomer purchase. GRHF amplified this community-driven effort by providing a $2,000 raffle match.

On Friday, December 5, GRHF presented MWGTA with a check in the amount of $21,880, representing the raffle proceeds plus the Foundation’s matching contribution.

“This was a great example of how community-led fundraising, paired with strategic philanthropic support, can move important projects forward,” said Kassi Huotari, Executive Director of the Gogebic Range Health Foundation. “The Iron Belle Trail is a great asset for outdoor recreation, tourism, and overall community health and well-being, and we’re proud to support MWGTA’s work to maintain and enhance it.”

The Iron Belle Trail plays a vital role in promoting physical activity, outdoor access, and economic vitality throughout the community.
